For over three years, I suffered daily from joint, muscle, and nerve pain, chronic fatigue, brain fog, memory loss, and an endless headache. Once an active, healthy teen, I found myself failing classes, losing friends, and barely able to get out of bed.
I saw fifteen doctors and was diagnosed with conditions like EOE, chronic migraine, NDPH, and chronic fatigue. Some doctors said nothing was wrong; others thought it was psychosomatic. Suspecting Lyme disease, my mom kept pushing even when doctors dismissed the idea because “Lyme doesn’t exist on the west coast.”
At 19, just after my birthday, an alternative doctor diagnosed me with Lyme disease and co-infections: babesia, bartonella, and ehrlichia.
